The 23rd Furniture City Classic Soccer Tournament
June 5, 2008

Our Furniture City Classic Soccer Tournament has grown to over 175 teams in the last 23 years. This August 23-24, 2008 we will celebrate another tournament at Phillips Park Soccer Complex and other facilities in High Point, NC.

Our field quality, our hospitality, and our emphasis on quality soccer have led teams to return time and time again to our tournament. We are looking to expand our tournament to 200 teams. Several college coaches will also be in attendance scouting our girls' divisions. If you have any questions, we will be happy to answer them.

Referee Certification Course
May 21, 2008

KSA, PSA and PTFC will be hosting a Referee Certification Course for New Referee’s. This is a 20 hour program over a period of four sessions. Attendance for all sessions is mandatory!!! There is a $60 Fee for those who enroll on or before July 11, 2008. The enrollment fee after that date will be considered a late enrollment and the fee will be $70. The reason for this is that the North Carolina Soccer Referee Association (NCSRA) needs to know the number of signups by July 11th to provide the appropriate amount of instructor’s, materials and cut back on the paper work created by late registrations.

To enroll send a check payable to “NCSRA” to: KSA, PO Box 333, Kernersville, NC 27285.

There is a minimum age requirement of 13. Individuals under the age of 14 will qualify for a 09 Referee Badge which limits one to working Recreational matches (up to U11). The 09 Badge is upgraded to a 08 Badge at the 14th birthday. Individuals 14 and over qualify for the 08 Badge. There is no guarantee that once you are certified you will receive matches every weekend. There are a number of variables that come into play: the number of games being played, level of matches and the number of available referee’s.

The course will be held at The Kernersville Family YMCA.
July 15, 2008 from 6:00PM to 9:30AM
July 17, 2008 from 6:30PM to 9:30AM
July 19, 2008 from 8:30AM to 5:30PM
July 20, 2008 from 1:00PM to 6:00PM (The exam will be given approximately at 3:30PM. The passing grade is 75.)

If one does not receive a passing grade they will be offered additional opportunities to retake the exam (2) at no additional cost. One of the advantages of taking and passing the course this July is that you are certified to referee for the Fall Season 2008 and the year 2009.
